Hey Myles,
I taught Carl your bear growl today. Hands like bears claws out in front with a big GRRRRRRRR. He loved it! Thanks! Tio Carol
Hi Myles. I love you.
Love, Katie
Coaching the JV2 with Myles,Coach Rea,Coach J, & Coach Jon. Getting frustrated in the defensive huddle with the noisy banter I remarked "Shut Up!" Myles was quick to remind me "That we don't say shut up..."
I was embarassed as if it came from one of my parents. Myles was always about the BFO. I still listen to his "to the point" guidance. Keep the RAINBOWS coming, the world needs to remember that in order to see the RAINBOW we have to first see the RAIN. Save me a spot on your team in heaven, I bet it's an awesome team..
Coach Tom Grobbel Sr.
Hi Myles: We love you. Grandma yvonne and Grandpa Lou
Merry Christmas!
Hi Myles, Merry Christmas...I just know you are directing the angels this morning...
My favorite memory of Myles is when he would cry like the world was coming to an end when he couldn’t do a simple thing like take off his shirt.
-By: Theresa
I was at an event with Myles and his Dad. Myles went off and sat by himself. I went over to ask what was wrong. Myles said, “I want to be big; everyone here is big except for me.”
-Aunt Carol
We went to Imax to see ‘Polar Express.” Myles was 2. At the point of the train speeding out of control, Myles stood up, grabbed the back of the seat in front of him and exclaimed, “Oh Gosh! Oh No! … Oh No! Oh Gosh!” To this day, I still use this phrase.
-“Tio” Carol
Our whole family came over to the Beckley’s before school started in the summer and we played capture the flag – Girls vs. Boys. All the girls would get the boys in “jail.” They didn’t have to worry though. Myles ran as fast as he could and got all of them out and when he got back to his side, he laughed and said to us girls,’ Ha! Got ya!”
-Mary Kate (8th grade)
One of the memories I had with Myles was when I first met him. His dad introduced him to me and said, “this is Myles, my son.”Knowing Coach Beckley, I thought Myles would enjoy playing sports. I took him outside, and we were playing touch football, then picking up lacrosse sticks and throwing. Myles wanted the biggest lacrosse stick. Myles is a special kid who will not be forgotten.
-Joe Mac (15)
Jay, my son Kii, Theresa and I were trying to catch a giant crayfish in Cayuga lake last July. Jay Myles was fearless! His life force is amazing. He will never be forgotten. A beautiful Being.
-Kevin K.
Coach Jay, I remember when I came over to watch the Michigan vs. Notre Dame game. John and I were on the couch watching Michigan get beat while you and Myles were asleep. Then suddenly and exciting pass to Avant got me and John screaming. Myles and you suddenly woke up and started cheering, but then three plays later Michigan fumbled on the goal line and you guys went back to sleep.
-Dominic S. (6th grade)
Myles upon breaking a rule: “But I have to look out for my needs too. Sometimes I just need to break the rules.”
-Tio Carol
My favorite memory of Myles was when he would help out his sister and her St. Regis 5th Grade softball teammates by collecting the bats and balls on the softball diamond (always with sunglasses and wristbands on), and the lasting image of him coaching first base with his dad.
-Coach Patrick Parke
I like when the Beckley’s drove me to softball. Myles was holding an awesome shovel that he found treasures with in his sand box. We all having a great time.
-Grace K. (6th grade)
That’s Myles – cocky, proud, loving – with a profound grip on life. One of the 5 most interesting people I have ever met in my life. “HERO” without question. I love you.
-Les
I love Myles’ face and smile as he greeted us across the yard. He was always ready to play with Christian and tell us about his latest adventures with his family. We’ll always remember his love for life and his amazing smile that lit up the neighborhood.
-The McNulty’s
I love the vision of Myles on the block with his Spiderman goggles, making the muscle man face. His spirit and smile will never leave Plum Hollow’s pool.
-Love, Coach Liz
I remember when Myles was walking down the hall, he gave me a warming smile and a little wave. No matter where I was he would always say hello to me.
-Kara K. (3rd grade)
I remember Myles coming into the Yahoo! office to visit his dad and going cube to cube talking to everyone. His smile just makes you smile.
-Christen K.
You couldn’t help but smile every time Jay brought his family into the office. Theresa with her thoughtful intelligence always contrasted by Myles with his boundless energy and larger than life smile.
-Peggy Birkett
We enjoyed Myles’ smiling face every time we saw him at Plum Hollow (swimming) or St. Regis (football). He’s in our hearts forever.
-The Grombala’s
I remember when Myles hoped he would be ‘rescued’ during the swim meet like another kid – so he swam slow and hung onto the lane line. But to no avail – everyone cheered him on and he made it to the other side – no problem! (with a BIG grin on his face!)
-The Judds
One thing that I love and admire about Myles is that he always managed to keep smiling. Every time I walked around plum Hollow and saw him, he was grinning the most precious grin ever. That gave me the happiness to just smile and enjoy life. He’s really a remarkable kid. I will always have him in my heart.
-Jayme
I will always remember Myles swimming his 25 Free at Plum Hollow – it was the longest lap! What I remember most about that lap is everyone, and I mean everyone on the side of the pool cheering and yelling and rooting for Myles. Everyone of us was swimming with him … everyone of us was loving him. I will think of him everytime someone swims that longest lap! He was great!
-Teryl Murphy
Myles at a Saturday morning Raider football mass with his daddy. During mass, he turned around and made funny faces to the other Raider little siblings sitting behind him – keeping them amused!
-Gail Bindi
I love the time when Myles, knowing he was going to get “time out” for his behavior, just started heading upstairs to his room on his own.
-Love, Grandpa Lou
When I was baby sitting, Myles told me about his imaginary teammates and basketball coach. They always won.
-Mary Kate
I love the scene watching Myles jump off the dock in Ithaca wild-eyed, big smile, and his curls flying into the water. He was bobbing in the water, I reached out for him and we laughed together shaking droplets of lake water from our faces.
-Dawn Beckley
Myles wanted to fly down from the Yahoo 4th floor window and bring all the cars from the parking lot to the office and park them in the lunchroom!
-Miss Toni
Myles was at our house for dinner. He wanted another cookie but his dad said “no.” Myles just smiled at me and said, “It’s OK, Mrs. Grobbel, just one more.” How could I ever say no to such a beautiful child with such an incredible smile?
-Nan Grobbel
Myles came to church with you all before Ms. Anna left to go to Naples, Florida. His loving, sweet personality was just shinning. He was giving everyone hugs. He made everyone smile.
-Kenneth and Maira McLeod
I went over to the Beckley’s house for a play date with some other friends. We started playing on the slip and slide and while I was sliding down, he turned the water off. After, I started laughing. It was so funny!
-Caitlin D.
My daughter Maria was one of Myles’s classmates. Maria told us that Myles would sing to her -- the “Maria Song” is what she called it. She also said that Myles loved her!!
-Annette and Dean Askounis
I saw Myles at church with the biggest smile and his cute little afro. He always gave Theresa a hug. He’s such a great kid!
-Jackie M.
Myles would always run over to our house with a big smile and a “surprise.” Whether it was a bouquet of flowers, a chat with neighborAl, or a Mother’s Day gift - he was always beaming ear to ear.
-Sandy and Al Debicki
The fun talks with “Neighbor Al”. That great smile on his face. Wow!
-Al Debicki.
I have this vivid image of Jay, Paul and Myles running around Great Captain’s Island last summer. Barefoot, shirtless and happy as clams! What an amazing boy.
-Love, Mike Perlis
When the Beckley’s visited New York last summer, I asked Myles how old he was. Myles proudly proclaimed that he was “Four and Two Quarters.” His smile will always be remembered by the entire Turcotte Family.
-Love, Paul Turcotte
Sunday January 13th 2008 (Blue is his favorite color)
Myles and Luke Z. were and still will be classmates in the JK room. Just because he is not here in body he is here in spirit, he never left us! Luke woke up this morning and told me that Myles came down flapping his wings and told him that today is a very special day! And then flapped his wings and went back up to heaven!
-Rene Zawaidek
Myles,
I will always remember you with your big smile walking down the halls of St. Regis. We had fun together in Kid’s Club. Thanks for your free spirit and kindness toward others. You and your sister are a great team. God bless you. Our prayers are with you and your family always. You are an Angel.
-Love, Mrs. Blanch
Myles brought a smile to everyone’s face with his smile and his beautiful hair. He’s a joyous spirited boy.
